sweater spunk

Fall is here, friends. And so are oversized sweaters. My favorite fall knit pick (hah.) is actually from last winter. This sweater, from H&M's 2013 Paris Collection, was bought a year ago but,
thanks to the LA heat, never actually worn. So, as I was rummaging through my closet this morning, I stumbled across this beauty and immediately threw it on. *cue light parting through clouds and choir music* It is magnificent!
Paired with slip-ons and a head wrap, it creates the ideal fall balancing act.

Happy Sunday!

BTS: Fall Shoe Closet

Fall and Los Angeles are not two words people often mentally associate. In fact, a Los Angeles Autumn does not hold true to the word in any way. Rather, for the most part the leaves stay on trees and festive Thanksgiving hued leaf piles are thing left for holiday movies. Not to mention, the month of September usually idles around a scorching 85 degrees. That being said, there will certainly be no knee high boots to be seen for a good month or two, leaving transition pieces the only safe bet.

Now, I'm most definitely not a "buy a new wardrobe every season" type of gal, but it's always helpful to reserve a few pieces for those awkward transition periods. (You know what I'm talking about *cough cough* February and September) So, here are the shoes I have selected to wear this coming fall. Simple, chic silhouettes and probably too much black, but they're neither too summery nor too warm.

When Melrose meets Fairfax

Every weekend on the corner of Fairfax and Melrose, vendors from across the greater LA area set up shop in the parking lot of Fairfax High School. This, is the Fairfax Flea Market. Complete with the usual eclectic mix of high and low brand used clothing (and of course the ever so conspicuous mink coat or two), the Fairfax Market also brings together skilled artisans.Virtually a maze of pop-up tents, the aisles are lined with ornately embellished picture frames, industrial light-bulb sculptures, vintage records, cameras, typewriters, and leather bags. Suffice to say it's incredibly easy to lose track of time.
The cherry on top of it all?
The prices are unbeatable.

cheers to fall

What do you think of when the word fall pops in your head?
Sweaters? Elections? Pumpkin spiced lattes? Holidays? Turkey? Overly boisterous relatives? parties?
For the sake of this post, we're just going to go with the latter. (so poll-checking-sweater-wearing-turkey-eaters bear with me here.)
It's always a challenge selecting the perfect outfit for a night out, especially when you run the risk of getting hypothermia on a chilly fall night. Personally, I love layering jackets(in this case, a camel prepschool blazer) over a polished dress or skirt combo. A pattern underneath gives the entire outfit a little more attitude while satin heels boost formality.

cheers!

vampire weekend part II

My oh so attractive pre-show selfie

Part two of my two post concert extravaganza! As you may know, Vampire Weekend and Beirut played the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday. The result of this pairing was nothing less than perfect. Usually, I'm not the biggest fan of the Bowl as a venue in general, but for some reason everything was absolutely spot on. Above are some photos from my box as well as one from the after party. Ezra, CT, Rostam, and Baio are all such amazing people, I am so grateful to have met them!
On a side note, there was a delay in my instagram posts due to poor reception at the venue, but all videos are up now so go take a look @thebrunettebandit!

Here's to their next show.

hello, autumn

Sweater weather is (finally) here! I am so utterly ecstatic that fall has come. Hello pumpkin spice lattes, over-sized sweaters, and a seasonal excuse for not shaving our legs! These are a few of my fall finds from yesterday. (yes, I know espadrilles are for summer but California winters are, well, summer)

Here's to fuzzy socks and spiced everything.
